I am a journalist based in New York City. My stories have appeared in
Isotope: A Journal of Literary Science and Nature Writing, the
New York Times,
Mother Jones Magazine,
OnEarth Magazine, and on the programs
Radiolab and
This American Life, among others. Most recently, I spent time reporting on a fish in Southeast Asia with the aid of a Pulitzer Traveling Fellowship.
Before becoming a journalist, I was an associate editor for philosophy, classics and religion at Oxford University Press. I've also worked on a film
— Garrison Keillor: The Man on the Radio in the Red Shoes for PBS's
American Masters Series — and served as a writer at Sotheby's auction house, where I specialized in twentieth century art.
I hold degrees in English literature and journalism from Columbia University. I particularly enjoy
writing for young readers and love to speak to students at schools around New York.
I would be happy to hear from you at Emily.Voigt [at] gmail.com.
